Born and raised in Markham, IL (Chicago suburb) and the youngest of seven, she has always had a love for fashion and design, where she would often coordinate looks for family members and friends. A graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s in Communication, is where she launched her debut in the fashion world as a model and stylist with the notable Present Perfect Modeling Organization. It was there that she gained extensive experience styling and working with designers, boutiques, clothing and accessory vendors.
Post college, Nellisa landed a career as a Corporate Trainer in Chicago where she traveled, learned a great deal about different cultures and the art of interviewing. With a tremendous interest in real-estate and natural gift in decorating, she obtained an IL. Brokers License, where she became a Luxury Real-Estate Broker and Interior Design Stager. In between these careers, she continued to style clients for birthdays, holidays and special events.
She started a non-for-profit organization called Maryanna’s Heart that was named after her inspiration, her kindhearted mother Maryanna Ragland. Her debut initiative called, Prom Queen (now in its 3rd year), began where she styled underprivileged and deserving young ladies in the Chicagoland area for prom. Nellisa confesses, “As much as I love styling, doing it to bless these young ladies has been the most fulfilling styling experience of my life.” ABC 7’s, Windy City Live, took notice to this amazing initiative and featured Nellisa to discuss her mission. Through her organization, Nellisa hopes to inspire others to begin using their talents to bless someone else.
